SLO Village Press Release

(San Luis Obispo, CA) – SLO Village, the membership organization that connects older adults living independently in their own homes, is pleased to announce Tami Newcomb as Executive Director, effective March 18, 2024.

A collaborative leader, Newcomb brings over three decades of marketing, branding and communications knowledge and insight to SLO Village. Her role as Vice President of the Roxburgh Agency, perfectly aligns with her heart ministry to actively serve and support older adults.

Newcomb says she was drawn to the SLO Village organization for its unique approach to connecting generations to help members age in place while enjoying vibrant, engaged lives. “I strongly believe in the African concept ‘ubuntu’, shared humanity’ that all people are connected, and we need to love and care for each other.  It does indeed take a village.”

A proud resident of San Luis Obispo, and actively engaged in the community as a SLO Chamber Ambassador and Leadership SLO, Newcomb hopes to bridge her many connections. ‘“Since I was a little girl, I’ve had a heart for older adults, and I’m thrilled for this opportunity to help SLO Village membership grow and thrive.”

Dave Kuykendall, SLO Village Board President and one of the local Village founders, said the group is delighted to add Newcomb to the team, "Tami’s skills and passion make her an ideal advocate for our Village and an effective leader in connecting generations within our community."

SLO Village is a nonprofit organization founded in 2016 by a group of active older adults who wanted their retirement years on the Central Coast to be engaging and purposeful.  It currently serves members in San Luis Obispo County.  Information about SLO Village is available on the group’s website at slovillage.org or by calling the office at (805) 242-6440.
