Welcome
The devastating fires in Southern California have caused immense loss and displacement for many of our Village Movement members. Pasadena Village has been hit especially hard, with 20 members losing their homes and nearly 90 displaced. Despite these challenges, the incredible spirit of neighborly support shines through.
Led by Executive Director Katie Brandon and her dedicated team, Pasadena Village has stepped up to provide immediate assistance. Members have opened their homes and hearts to those in need, offering shelter and comfort in this difficult time. Unfortunately, the threat continues, with Conejo Valley Village in Thousand Oaks, Westlake, and Temple Judea Village in Tarzana also at risk as the Santa Ana winds persist.
At SLO Village, we stand in solidarity with our fellow Villages and are committed to supporting their relief efforts. The SLO Village Board of Directors has made a contribution to the Pasadena Village Relief Fund; should you wish to do the same, please click on the link below for details.
Let’s come together as a Village community to spread the power of collective care.

The wildfires in California remind me of what truly matters: connection to one another. In times of crisis, we find that home is not just a place, but through those who make our community. This community may be with family, friends, and neighbors. These bonds of care and support carry us through difficult times, showing that even in the face of loss, we can find "home" in one another. My heart goes out to the extension of my community during this time. I know SLO County welcomes all those who may need refuge.
SLO Village Volunteers, Kerry Sheets and Randy Murray share their wonderful insights on what it means to be part of the community with the SLO Village organization on the local radio station, KCBX FM. You can listen in at: KCBX.org.
By 2030, California will be home to 10.8 million older adults, accounting for one-quarter of the state’s population. 34% of our state’s older adults will be moderate- and middle-income, without Medicaid benefits. California is responding to these demographic changes by implementing a Master Plan for Aging. SLO Village is an 'Open' nonprofit. We work with established nonprofits, senior centers, and government agencies in our community. We make it our business to know what is offered by other organizations and avoid duplication of effort. SLO Village is aware of service “gaps” and we understand how to navigate community services.
