This Fall Prevention Month, we’re starting with a powerful and personal conversation between two friends and fierce patient advocates: Corene Canaan, Operations Manager of the SLO Village Movement, and Jessica Taylor, volunteer Director of Support for the international nonprofit Myositis Support and Understanding.
Both Corene and Jessica live with forms of Myositis, a rare disease that affects mobility. They’ll share their real-life experiences navigating medical spaces, asking for help, and the emotional journey of modifying their homes—and mindsets—for safety and independence.
From stubborn independence to saying “yes” to support (including letting a friend drive your car!), Corene and Jessica will explore how self-advocacy can transform both your healthcare journey and your home environment.
This event is for anyone interested in aging safely, living with chronic illness, or building a support system that truly has your back. It’s about more than preventing falls—it’s about standing tall in your truth and letting others stand with you.
Let’s kick off Fall Prevention Month with honesty, humor, and hope.
